Meyers Islands

This week us vollies have been getting to grips with island life - heaps of health and safety briefings, fire training, driving tests and of course the how well can you cook test! Today we decided we needed to practice the emergency evacuation procedure (and it just happened to be a super day for boating!) So we got the boats out, towed them with the tractors to the foxway, where we lowered them down the hill and then into the water with the derrick - we are all getting pretty slick at this now!

We went for a visit to the close by Meyers Islands. They are covered in birds - no predators at all, and never has been - unlike Raoul. The sky is full of them, and you can see even from the water the chicks and eggs on the ground!

We didn't land but took a tiki tour around the islands and even managed to spot a turtle or two! The trip wouldn't have been complete without a dip, and luckily we all had our masks and snorkels! It was a good chance for me to try out my new camera - heaps of fish and crystal clear water - perfect!
