Back to Mahoe!

Ian and I had some unfinished business on the south western corner of the island, so last week with a few supplies we headed back to Mahoe hut! The Sunshine Valley track (one of my favourite tracks on the island I think) was the main reason for our visit, clearing it took two and a half days, there was a lot of tree falls and heaps of thick bracken patches where the track had all but disappeared, but when we finally broke through and reached the coast we were rewarded with some whales putting on a great show for us! It looked like there were about five of them in the Boat Cove Bay, though very hard to tell!

After the track work was done we had a few jobs around the hut to do - clearing out one of the water tanks (this is the before picture, little less mud after I was done!) a little bit of painting and some rubbish to sort out, a great week and great weather, until it was time to head for home, then it got a little wet!
