Up up and away

The NZ met service fund one full time position over here, this is actually split between three DOC officers, every day all sorts of data is collected and recorded and sent back to the Met Service to help with making up the forecasts! One of the jobs is filling a hydrogen balloon which is let off each morning with a sonde attached this records the temperature, humidity and pressure as it rises and last week Mike had me as a trainee balloon releaser:
